Hurley River - Gun Lake - Gold Bridge
August 2, 2004

I made this trip with my family during the summer using the information in Volume 1 of Exploring the Backroads of BC which covers the south-western part of BC from Squamish to Lillooet. The start point was just north of Pemberton at the Lillooet River FSR. We then followed the Hurley River FSR to Gun Lake and then on to the town of Gold Bridge. The picture above that I took on our way back is my favourite. The location is the mountain top near the trailhead outside of Pemberton. The rest of the pictures are below. Sorry for the sparse captions--I'm posting this up 6 months after the actual trip.

I will say that this was probably one of the busiest roads I've been on. When we first left the pavement, a BMW 3-series came whizzing around a bend and we passed numerous other sedans and mini-vans along the way--including a VW Touareg up near Gold Bridge.

Someone parked their SUV before I had a chance to move mine in place .

We didn't take this branch. Maybe next time.

The small campsite is not far off the main road but it's easy to miss the turn off. It was empty at the time, but had a very nice flat grassy area.

I found this remote lying in the grass outside the info center and turned it in.
