Replacement Air Filter

Modifications > Engine: K&N FilterCharger

I used info from the AudiWorld FAQ to get the K&N part numbers¹. The correct part number is 33-2125

For opening the air box and installing the new filter I used the Air Filter Upgrade Options² by Steve Sherwood (also from AudiWorld) plus info from the POWmotorsports knowledge base.

Update: Sadly, POWmotorsports no longer exists, but Wetterauer America has an excellent write-up with pictures of the 1.8T engine: Air Filter installation Instructions³.

Here's some pictures of my own install:

  1. Stock and K&N air filters side-by-side.

  1. V6 Air filter before cover is removed.

  1. Cover removed. It's held in by a few clips and can be removed by pulling straight up.

  1. Mid-section of intake pipe removed. It can be carefully pried off--there are no snaps or connectors. Note: the intake mouth is secured by to screws in the grill area and is NOT removed.

  1. I had to disconnect this pipe on the cover near the headlamps...

  1. ...and this pipe near the wheel well had to be unclamped to get enough clearance to remove the stock filter.

  1. Cover and intake replaced. Job done!
