Procedure:
- Use fishing line to carefully cut the double-sided behind the badge.
- Use hair dryer to gently heat the remaining tape still stuck on the body. The heat softens the tape and makes it easier to remove with your fingers.
- Use Goo Gone (or something similar) to remove any glue residue.
Notes:
- Make sure the area around the badge is clean, otherwise you risk scratching the paint.
- In the past, I've used dental floss instead of fishing line to remove other badges, but I find that it breaks too easily.
- You might find it easier on your hands if you wear gloves while pulling the fishing line.
- Goo Gone actually removes the wax on the vehicle, too, so you should make sure to reapply a new coat to protect the vehicle.
- I wanted to remove all the badges on the rear trunk (except the Mazda Logo) for a really clean look, but unfortunately, only the "ES" badge was stuck on with double-sided tape. Both "MPV" and "MAZDA" are bolted on and would require filling and painting the holes to make it look good.
