Summary:
I wasn't planning on tinting the front windows but the summer sun was just too intense and I was getting a severe case of DAT (Driver's Arm Tan
). In the past I've always put 50% tint (allows 50% of the light to pass through) on the front windows, but I decided to go with 35% this time to try to match the factory tint and get a single uniform look. You can see in the picture above that 35% is still lighter than the factory tint, but it's very close. The guys at the shop were sure that the factory tint was 18-20% but it doesn't look as dark as the 20% I have on my Passat. I wouldn't put anything that dark on the front windows anyway.
Procedure:
- Find a reliable tint shop.
- Make an appointment.
- Drop off the car.
- Pay for service.
- Don't open window for 2-3 days.
Notes:
- I'm glad I chose 35%. It's not very dark at all but it reduces the heat noticeably. I'll see how it is at night and in the winter.
