Whenever I washed the Sequoia it annoyed me
that little bits of gravel would get stuck between the splash guards and the
body. Wedged in very tightly, they were impossible to get out even with a
pressure washer. The solution? Remove the splash guards.
The
small splash guards don't really protect the car from that much. In the front,
the running boards prevent most of the debris from hitting the body. In the
rear, the lower bumper area gets splashed even with the splash guard installed.
So I don't think I'll be loosing much protection. The result is subtle but it
makes the Sequoia look more like a truck vs. looking like a
grocery-getter.
The splash guards
are really easy to remove with a 10mm socket wrench and I removed them before I
washed the car. The first two pictures below you can see on the splash guards
where it is difficult to clean and where the dirt accumulates. The rest of the
pictures show the before and after look.
