Bought Stickers

I found this package of stickers for sale at TOYS ‘R US (Yeah, yeah, I know….) They are fade resistant because they are designed for decorating skate boards and bicycle helmets. I’ve always wanted a vehicle with flames on it, so I decided to give it a try.

Measured Carefully

I used painter’s tape to mark the area to put the stickers on. I cleaned the area with rubbing alcohol to remove the wax.

Tested Placement

It’s really hard to tell what it’s going to be like with all that extra stuff around. I used some soapy water to remove the backing and keep the adhesive damp so that I could move the sticker around and place it exactly where I wanted it.

I did the work in my garage and moved it out in the sun to dry. Later in the evening I put a good coat of Eagle One Nanowax on it.

I haven’t decided what to do with the other stickers, yet, but I’m happy with the way the flames turned out. Since the yellow part of the flame blends into the red on the scooter, it’s very subtle—not too flashy. It seems to be holding up well. It’s been parked in the hot sun all day long and there’s no peeling. It should be fine in the rain and cold weather, too. I guess if it doesn’t last the winter that’ll be $4 CAD down the drain.
